G’Day Cobber launched in Sydney

A book on the life of Fr Bill Edward SDB was launched at Don Bosco Youth Centre in St. Marys, New South Wales on Monday 5th June. The book titled ‘G’day Cobber: Dare to be a Saint’ was meticulously written by a friend and devotee, Fr Steven Ardill of Port Pirie Catholic Diocese from South Australia.

Fr Bill’s story is remarkable in its simplicity and in the breadth of its embrace. Countless lives have been touched and transformed by the prayers, preaching, pen and personal encounters with this priest of and for the people.

Fr Bill’s brother Norm Edwards from Wollongong, and a niece and a nephew were present at the book launch as well as Fr Brendan Murphy SDB, Salesians and Salesian Sisters.

Some of Fr Bill’s past pupils also shared their treasured memories of this deeply Salesian man of God at the launch.

A copy of ‘G’Day Cobber’ is available for purchase at the Central Catholic Bookshop in Melbourne.
