A Bishop visited Rupertswood

Recently, the Salesian Community at Rupertswood was honoured by the visit of the bishop of Kalay diocese from Burma, Monsignor Felix Thang. The bishop stayed at the Salesian residence for four days.

While staying at the Salesian community, the bishop visited the college and spoke to the staff during a special morning tea hosted for his visit.

Following the morning tea, the bishop was taken a tour around the college. He was very impressed with the students, staff, and the environment and the facilities available at the college.

Bishop Felix has come to Australia at the invitation of the Catholic Mission Office in East Melbourne. He has come to promote Catholic mission and to make aware of the situation of the Catholic Church in Burma, particularly in his Kalay diocese.

The Catholic Mission Office of Melbourne invites a bishop from another country each year to speak to the students in Catholic Education. The bishop also visited a number of Catholic schools in Melbourne and Ballarat.

On 17th October at St Patrick's Cathedral in East Melbourne, Bishop Felix was the principal celebrant of the Children Mission Mass. It was attended by hundreds of students from all over Melbourne. In his homily, Bishop invited all children to treat all people in the world as God's children and to help those who are less fortunate.
