Salesians celebrate Australia Day

ozdayAustralia Day is celebrated by Salesian brothers, sisters and priests of Melbourne based communities at the presbytery of St. Margaret Mary's church in North Brunswick. About 30 Salesians and a retired local bishop attended this joyous gathering hosted by the parish priest, Fr. Anthony Quang. The attendees include Australians, Italians, Vietnamese, Chinese, Indians, Thais, Dutch and Burmese.

The celebration began with a prayer service led by Fr. Michael Ledda during which many prayers are said for the good of Australia.

Following the prayer, a Vietnamese flavoured BBQ lunch was served with lamb chops, steaks, sausages, and different types of spring rolls.

Br David O'Brien also entertained the gathering with many Australian songs during lunch.

Sr. Marguerite Nguyen ran a free raffle, and a number of people were happy to go home with extra goodies to carry.

Happy Australia Day!
