The oldest and the longest serving member of Sunbury Salesian community, Br. Cahill Gleisner SDB, celebrated 65 fantastic years as a Salesian and 86 years as a unique individual on Monday 1st February.
The Community Eucharist was celebrated and led by Fr. Joe Binh Dinh who thanked God for the life and service of Br. Cahill to the Salesian Society and to the young. After the homily, Br. Cahill renewed his vows as a Salesian.
Celebrations continued in the dining room which was filled with black and white helium balloons as Br. Cahill who has been a die-hard supporter of Collingwood Football Club in Melbourne for many years. A special anniversary and birthday cake was cut and shared with all confreres present to mark the occasion.
Br. Cahill Gleisner, together with Br. Joe Ellul and Fr. Frank Freeman, made their First Professions as Salesians at Rupertswood in Sunbury on 31st January 1951. All of them are keeping well and serving God in their unique ways.
