Canonization of Mary MacKillop

Mary MacKillop

Mary MacKillopA Year 11 student from Salesian College Sunbury has been chosen to represent at the canonization ceremony of Mary MacKillop later in this year in Rome. Following is the announcement from the college principal, Fr. Greg Chambers SDB:

I wish to announce that TINA MAUGERI, a Year 11 student in MacKillop 3, has been chosen to represent Salesian College ‘Rupertswood’ on a CEO sponsored pilgrimage to the Canonisation Ceremony ofMay MacKillop in Rome this coming October.

Tina has been at the College for five years, and attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Primary School before arriving here. She is a very committed and responsible student who has helped with the annual fundraising activities for Bayan Tulyan. Bayan Tulyan is a project for street children in Manila, Philippines, started by a young Australian woman and is a special focus of MacKillop House to which Tina belongs.

Tina has also attended Refugee Tutoring sessions in St Albans. Her homegroup leader has commented on how well Tina engages with the younger students and is always ready to assist with pastoral and House activities. Whilst congratulating Tina, I also wish to commend all students who applied to represent our College at this most important ceremony.
