Conversation with Archbishop

College captains from the Salesian colleges in Melbourne went to the Catholic Leadership Centre in East Melbourne on Thursday 13th March to participate in the Conversation with the Archbishop hosted by the Archdiocesan Office for Youth Melbourne.

The day began with a prayer, and a special presentation marking on the first anniversary of Pope Francis’ leadership in the Catholic Church. This presentation was led by Fr Chris Ryan MGL, the rector of Missionaries of God’s Love seminary in East Burswood.

Following the presentation, the Archbishop of Melbourne, Most Rev. Dennis Hart was introduced to the gathering of over 200 student leaders and their teachers. Archbishop Hart spoke about his vocation as a priest and a bishop of Melbourne, and his joy of serving and working with the people of Melbourne. The simple language used by the archbishop made the participants to listen more attentively.

Many students were impressed by the honesty, warmth and appreciation shown by the archbishop. During lunch time, all student leaders were given opportunities to have their photos taken with the archbishop.

Following the lunch, Archbishop Hart took questions from the school leaders and responded them to their satisfaction.

Our student leaders were happy and privileged to be part of this conference. It was also good for them to catch up with fellow student leaders from other schools and share ideas.
