Province celebrates St. Francis de Sales

Francis de Sales
Francis de SalesMany Salesians from the Province of Mary Help of Christians gathered at the Province Centre at Ascot Vale in the evening on the great feast of St. Francis de Sales.

This gathering, started by the late Fr. Ian Murdoch, has been a joyful and enriching experience for all participants for a number of years.

Yet, 2012 gathering is slightly different, or special rather. It is the first gathering under the leadership of the new provincial, Fr. Greg Chambers.

The gathering started with a short liturgy during which Fr. Bernie Graham was formally installed as the vice provincial of the province and Fr. Peter Monaghan accepted in the provincial council.

Following the liturgy, Fr. Greg Chambers delivered a talk in the province centre board room. He spoke of his priorities, also that of the province, for the next six years. Of all the priorities, the first one being the vocation. The whole province will be working hard on getting vocation to the Salesian religious life, inviting young men to join us in the great work of Don Bosco.

After the provincial’s talk, Fr. Will Matthews, Provincial Delegate for SSCS, also delivered a short talk on Salesian GoogleApps – Cloud Computing that is being used by many confreres in the province. He invited all Salesians of the province to sign up for a myname@salesians.org.au email address to experience the Cloud Computing, that is like having a personal computer online and being able to access it from anywhere in the world.

The gathering concludes with a festive meal in the province dinning room. A good selection of wines provided by Fr. Mathias Mo SDB was served during the meal.
