The Don Bosco Technical Centre Hall was packed with overflowing with teachers, students, parents and friends for the 2010 Graduation of 60 Year Four students. The event commenced with a joyful celebration of the Eucharist.
The main celebrant was Father Visesio Muliaga, a past pupil of the Centre, who expressed his delight at having been invited to preside at Mass. Concelebrants were Father Petelo Vito, the Principal of Don Bosco Technical Centre, Father Falani Felise and Father Iosefo Mulipola, also past students of Don Bosco Technical Centre, and Father Nicholas Castelyns. One must be there to savour the joyful spirit as the 290 boys and young men raised the roof with their singing! These boys can sing!!!!
In his homily Father Visesio reminded the assembly of the beauty of gratefulness for all God’s gifts and to always give thanks to God, parents and teachers for giving us so many opportunities to make something beautiful of our lives , and – as Don Bosco wished it – to be become good Christians and useful citizens.
A touching moment of the Mass was Father Petelo’s invitation for the parents of the graduands to impose their hands on their sons during a special prayer of blessing – one could almost feel the spirit moving!
Most of the graduands have already secured employment or have been promised employment. Three of them will stay on at Don Bosco for another year of Teachers Training and so continue Don Bosco’s charism.
The graduation was followed by the end-of year Prize giving to the remainder of the students, some lively entertainment and “light refreshments” (of gargantuan quantity) .
