Samoa’s Fautasi Boat Race

fautasi boat race

fautasi boat raceThe youth, Catholics and non-Catholics alike, from and around the village of Sinamoga in Samoa had been busy preparing for the Fautasi Boat Race under the guidance of Fr. Sefo Mulipola SDB who is also the parish priest of the village church.

The youth, about 70 boys, have been in training since the middle of July. Fr. Sefo believed that this training and the competition to come united them together. This is more important for those who are drifting away from the Church to come back and to be part of the community.

The actual race was held on 1st September at 9:00 am. Unfortunately, the Don Bosco Youth did not manage to grab the flag.

May be next year…
