On a warm evening of 31st January, a good number Salesian priests, brothers and sisters together with many lay collaborators gathered at St. Margaret Mary’s parish in North Brunswick to celebrate their great founder, St. John Bosco.
The Eucharist was led by the provincial of the Salesians in Australia and the Pacific, Fr Greg Chambers SDB. In his homily, Fr Greg publicly acknowledged and thanked the Rector Major, Fr Pascual Chavez for his outstanding service to the Salesians world-wide over the last 12 years. Fr. Chavez will complete his term as the Rector Major in two months’ time.
Fr. Greg also acknowledged the Salesian jubilarians who are celebrating various milestones of their profession and ordination anniversaries in 2014.
During the Eucharist, the local Vietnamese choir sang the praises to God both in English and Vietnamese languages.
Following the Eucharist, refreshments were served in the parish hall where all shared a chat over a bite and a drink.
At the moment, Salesians around the world are gearing up to celebrate the 200th years Anniversary of the birth of St. John Bosco on August 16, 2015.
