Fijian Mothers united in Prayer

A group of mothers in the new St. John Bosco parish in Nasinu near Suva in Fiji celebrated the conclusion of their novena to the Blessed Virgin Mary on Tuesday 9th January 2018. This celebration was held in a poor old church of the local community.

The newly appointed parish priest, Fr Mika Leilua SDB, was the main celebrant of the Eucharist to conclude the novena. He was concelebrated by the Provincial of the Australia-Pacific Province.

During Eucharist, Fr Mika thanked the mothers for their arduous prayer for their new parish, and also to many men who would willingly give a hand to any needs of the parish.

The Salesians in Fiji has signed up with the Archdiocese of Suva to begin a new parish ministry in Nasinu. A large piece of land has been prepared for a new parish church, a youth educational centre and a presbytery for the Salesians.

Nasinu is a poor area of Fiji where Salesians will dedicate their mission for the good of the children, young people and families.

Please contact directly to the Salesian Province Centre in Ascot Vale in Victoria, Australia if you would like to contribute in any way to the development of this new parish.
