Fr. Bert Fulbrook SDB celebrated 25 years as a priest with his community on Thursday 14th July in Sunbury. He presided the community Eucharist during which he thanked God for all the blessings he has received in his life.
Following the Eucharist and during the special meal, the rector of the community proposed a toast to Fr Bert and thanked him for his service to the Church and to the Salesian Society in Australia. In addition to the confreres of the Sunbury community, Fr. Martin Tanti SDB from Lysterfield community and Br. Laurenco from Clifton Hill Formation Community graced the occasion.
Fr Bert was ordained a priest at St. Francis Xavier cathedral on 13th July 1991, at the age of 55. Prior to becoming a Salesian priest, he was a member of the Christian Brothers.
Since his ordination, Fr Bert has served in Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales and Victoria. He is currently serving as an Assisting Priest at Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish in Sunbury Victoria. This much-loved priest will be honoured and celebrated at this parish on the weekend of 16-17 July.
Fr. Bert also serves as the Bursar of the Salesian community and looks after the provisions of the Salesians in Sunbury community. Yet to turn 80 in December 2016, Fr. Bert is quite active both in the parish and in the community serving the needs of all.
