Fr. Jim Carroll SDB, one of the oldest and prominent members of the Salesians of Don Bosco in Australia, has gone to eternal life. Fr. Carroll died about 3.20pm on Saturday, 15 May.
Fr. Carroll was admitted to William Angliss Hospital in Upper Ferntree Gully with pneumonia just a few days ago. He has hardly regained consciousness since then. He was anointed during the week, and again this morning, the day he died.
Fortunately, Fr. Jim’s eventual passing has not been protracted, and he has been beautifully accompanied by Fr. John Prest, the rector of Lysterfield Community, and Br. Michael Harris who has been his primary carer in the last two years.
A remarkable figure from our Province and its history is now with the Lord, Fr. Frank Moloney said.
No funeral arrangements have been organized yet. Still, the provincial will let everyone know once they are arranged.
May Jim’s soul rest in peace, and his sister Joan and all his family be consoled by his peaceful exit!
