Some senior cricketers from the Salesian College Rupertswood were given a taste of what is to come next year with the 2014 First XI cricket team traveling to Salesian College in Chadstone for the annual Fr. Jennings Shield cricket match.
In one of the closest games in the 13 year history the SCR students came out on top by a mere ten runs.
After losing three early wickets our middle order held in to post 7/111. Defending this total on a ground with very short boundaries was going to be difficult, however, with superb field placement by Patrick McKenna and a great spell of spin by Jack Hudd, which netted three vital wickets the home team were kept to 7/101 off their allotted twenty overs.
Rupertswood have now won 9 of the 13 encounters.
