The Regional Superior of East Asia and Oceania, Fr Vaclav Klement, arrived in Melbourne on Saturday 25th July to begin Extra Ordinary visitation to the Province of Mary Help of Christians.
The Provincial Community was the first off the list to have visited by Fr Vaclav. During the visitation to this community, Fr Vaclav met up with the provincial, the rector and youth ministry delegate, the vice provincial, the Salesian Missions office director, the editor of the Salesian Bulletin and other members of the community. Fr. Vaclav also had some friendly chats with lay collaborators who work at the Province Centre.
In the second half of the week, Fr Vaclav visited the Brunswick Community meeting up with the rector and youth hostel director, the provincial economer and parish priest of St Margaret Mary’s, the director of Don Bosco youth centre and other members of the community. Brunswick community has a variety of missionary outlets. It serves needy youth through youth centre, provides affordable accommodation to the youth from country areas and from overseas. Don Bosco Opportunity Shop that operates under Brunswick community serves the household needs to the poor in the area. The Vietnamese ministry under the leadership of Fr Anthony Nguyen is also thriving in the parish.
This week, 1 – 7 August, Fr Vaclav will be visiting the Salesian communities in Engadine and St. Marys in New South Wales.
