Hobart’s Meli-Melo Choir will sing for earthquake relief in Nepal at a concert to be held in Glenorchy, on Saturday 5 December.
Christmas in the Alps promises traditional carols from Switzerland, France and beyond in gorgeous four-part harmony, with piano and organ accompaniment.
A highlight will be the Tasmanian premiere of Pierre Kaelin’s very beautiful Little Christmas Mass, sung in Latin but based on arrangements of familiar Christmas melodies.
Short pieces for Alphorn and French horn ensemble are also on the bill.
Light refreshments are included in the entry, which is by donation.
All funds raised will support education and rebuilding projects run by the Catholic Church in remote villages in Nepal.
With more of us looking to give globally this Christmas, this event promises your generosity will go directly to those in need.
Venue for Christmas in the Alps is Saint John’s Catholic Church, adjacent to Guilford Young College, 62 Bowden Street, Glenorchy.
