Mazzarello celebrated in Sunbury with a new Well

The Year 9 Campus at Salesian College Sunbury is named after St. Maria Mazzarello. Each year the campus feast day is celebrated around the feast day of the saint, 13th May. This year the feast day is celebrated on 8th May with a special Mass at the local church in Sunbury.

As always, Salesian Sisters come along to this celebration. This year the Mazzarello campus was blessed to have visited not only by the Sisters, but also their provincial Sr Edna-Mary, and a special visitor from Rome, Sr Lucy Rose the Regional Councillor.

The feast day started with a movie, the Guardian of the Galaxy for the students and staff, at the local cinema. Following the movie, students came across to Our Lady of Mount Carmel church for a Mass celebrated by the Rector, Fr Will Matthews SDB. Sr. Edna Mary, Sr Lucy Rose, 10 other Salesian Sisters, and a Josephite Sister Joset from Sunbury participated in the Eucharist.

After the Eucharist, students walked back to their campus for lunch provided by the college while the Sisters dined with the principal, the business manager and the rector in the Mansion.

The feast day was concluded by the Opening of the Mazzarello Well near the campus building. It was unveiled by the principal and the rector, and opened by Sr. Lucy Rose.
