The annual gathering of young people from all across our province celebrated its 10th birthday over the weekend from 18-20 May at Salesian College in Chadstone, Victoria. OzBosco is run for the young people by young people under the guidance of our Youth Ministry Office.
The focus of the weekend centred on the 2018 Strenna about the art of listening and accompaniment. There were many opportunities for the participants to listen to each other and accompany one another throughout the weekend.
A Capuchin Friar, Fr Dean Mathieson, was the keynote speaker on Saturday morning, while a past pupil from Salesian College Chadstone, Zia Haydari and an FMA Novice, Sr Iutita Kasio led a panel discussion on Sunday morning.
All participants were taken on a mystery tour around Melbourne CBD on Saturday afternoon as they searched for the missing Johnny [Don Bosco]. As they followed in his footsteps seeking out clues they learnt a bit about Salesian and Melburnian history, before finishing their journey at the newly renovated St Joseph’s church in Collingwood for a mini-festival.
The tenth celebration of OzBosco concluded with a solemn Mass of the Holy Spirit celebrated by Fr Will Matthews together with a number of Salesian priests including Fr Bernie Graham, Vice Provincial and Fr Frank Bertagnolli, Rector of Chadstone community.
