Day Four of the Provincial Chapter 18

Even though many Chapter members may not have been looking forward to another arduous day, yet with a feeling of knowing that it is the last day of the Chapter, they are excited about it.

Like the previous two days, this last day began with the Morning Prayer focusing on the Mission, Vocation and the New Frontiers. It was led by Sr. Rochelle Lamb who has been the liturgist since from day one. The prayer certainly lifted the spirit among Chapter members who then walked across to the conference room for the first session of the day at its conclusion.

The first session focused on the Salesian situations in the Pacific. Fr. Mosese and Fr. Petelo shared their opinions and experiences. They were supported and clarified by the Salesians who had worked in Samoa before. This was followed by the Formation Report from Fr. Peter Rankin, the rector of the Formation House in Clifton Hill and the Provincial Delegate for Formation.

Group discussions were held after morning tea on the topic of Vocation and Formation. The Chapter gathered once again to give feed back from group discussions, and to review and accept proposals and minutes from the previous meeting at 12:15pm.

Chapter stopped for lunch at 1:00pm after strong and interesting opinions and discussions on the topic of Vocation and Formation within the province of Mary Help of Christians.

Fr. Peter Rankin proposed some changes needs to be done in the Formation Directory in the last session after lunch. Final proposals from the Chapter were decided and submitted to the Provincial and his council to act upon them in the life of the Province.

This last session was concluded by the ‘thank you’ speech from the Moderator, Fr. Phil Gleeson, to all those who have contributed to a successful completion of this Chapter.

Mrs. Jenny Keating was specially thanked for her role as the secretary not only in this Chapter 18, but also the previous nine Chapters of the province.

At the end of this final session, Fr. Frank Moloney thanked Fr. Phil Gleeson for his role as an outstanding Moderator. He then said the closing prayer for the Chapter, and declared that the Provincial Chapter 18 is now successfully closed.

Morning came and afternoon came, IT WAS THE LAST DAY!

Have a holy and happy Easter Week!
