East Asia and Oceania Formation Meeting

During the week 22-26 November the Province of Australia and Pacific is hosting the formation delegates from the East Asia Oceania Region at Lysterfield, a south-eastern suburb of Melbourne.

Despite difficulties generated by the Australian immigration authorities and difficult travel patterns from such far-flung places as Mongolia, Burma and Japan, every Province, Vice Province and Delegation is represented at the meeting.

Under the caring and capable leadership of Fr. Francis Gustilo (North Filipino Province), well supported by Fr. Peter Rankin, the rector of the formation house near Melbourne, the group has an intense program.

The first two days are dedicated to an analysis of contemporary youth, led by Fr Michael Mason, CSsR. During the rest of the week the delegates assess the various stages of the formation process, both at home and across the Region.

Fr Chrys Saldanha is attending, representing the office for formation, and Fr Cereda from Rome.

There is a wonderful atmosphere at Lysterfield, and it is great that the excessive heat has turned into beautiful sunny days.

In addition to Fr. Peter Rankin, the formation delegate of the province, Fr. Phil Gleeson (Clifton Hill) and Fr. Jim Kyaw Hoe (Suva) are also in attendance representing the province.

On Wednesday Fr. Peter Rankin has scheduled a visit to the Sanctuary at Healesville where all over-sea visitors will be introduced to our Australian wildlife.
