Following the final sitting of the Provincial Council on 15th December 2017, the out-going provincial, Fr Greg Chambers SDB, was given a fitting farewell for his leadership and service to the Province of Mary Help of Christians in the past six years.
Many Salesians from the province, a number of lay collaborators and the staff at the Province Centre gathered in the dining hall of the Province Centre with a prayer service at 6:00 PM. During the prayer service, Fr Greg Chambers handed over some gold coins to the incoming provincial, Fr Will Matthews SDB, as a traditional handing-over gesture of the leadership.
During dinner a few Salesians and lay collaborators paid tributes to Fr Greg Chambers and thanked him for his outstanding, difficult, exciting and meticulous leadership in the last six years.
Fr Greg will officially finish his role as the Provincial on 31st December 2017, and will spend a year of rest with no specific responsibility at Glenorchy community in Tasmania during 2018. He is also hoping to do a renewal course in 2018.
Well done Fr Greg and thanks!
