Rector Major in Tanzania

Don Bosco celebrates 25 years of the Postnovitiate community with the Rector Major, Fr. Angel Fernandez Artime, AFE provincial and large formation community with one EAO postnovice – Cl. Chihiro Morito (missionary from Japan).

The day began with morning prayers followed by photo session. Every group had a chance to pose with the Rector Major after which each and every confrere too had a chance pose with him for a photo.


Later in the morning there was the meeting with the youth and after that they had a chance to ask questions to the Rector Major. Every group of youth present had a chance to take a photo with Fr. Artime.
The Mass was full of cultural expressions and during which five persons made their promise as cooperators. There were 23 concelebrants notable among them were Fr. Tony Fernandes the first economer of the East African Delegation who was instrumental in getting the plot of land in Moshi and building the Philosophy College there. There were also the first students of Moshi College Frs. Ladislaus, Erastus and Norbert. After the Mass there was the blessing of the foundation for a new laboratory and tree planting.

The lunch that followed had many invited guests notable among them being the bishop of Moshi. During the lunch Kili-Insights, an academic journal was launched, guests were given gifts and two oldest workers of Moshi College who saw its beginnings were recognized.

Later in the afternoon the successor of Don Bosco met the Salesians cooperators and past pupils.

At 6.00 PM the Rector Major and his team took off from Moshi Airport and landed in Wilson Airport Nairobi with a stop-over in Kilimanjaro International Airport to a wonderful welcome by few Salesians, Upper Hill parishoners and Bosco Boys Brass band.
