Relic Statue of Don Bosco visits Hsipaw, Myanmar

Don Bosco PreNovitiateThe Relic Statue arrived at Don Bosco Pre-novitiate, Hsipaw in Northern Shan State on 16th April around 8:30 am. The Statue was welcomed by Fr. John Gem Seng, rector of the seminary and a large number of parishioners and young people from Don Bosco parish in Hsipaw.

The statue took a short stay at the pre-novitiate. At 9:15 am, the visiting Statue and the crowd marched out to Don Bosco parish Church with procession led by the servers and the flute band. The solemn Eucharistic celebration in honor of Don Bosco was presided by His Grace, Bishop Philip Za Hkawng, Bishop of Lashio diocese, together with Fr. Provincial, four Salesian priests and three diocesan priests. The sermon was given by the Provincial, Fr. Maurice Vallence about the visiting Statue.

After Mass, ready-made lunch boxes were provided to all the pilgrims to enjoy.

The symposium on Don Bosco took place for two hours from 1:15 pm, and then, one hour adoration animated by Fr. Camillus under the title of Don Bosco and his Eucharistic life.

The night entertainment progromme too was alive with many different cultural dances.

On the following day, Palm Sunday, the Statue stayed at Don Bosco pre-novitiate for public and private devotions. The  Don Bosco community staff and pre-novices enjoyed a special moment of spending time with Don Bosco for two hours in the afternoon.

Don Bosco Pre NovitiateThe Relic Statue was given a closing ligurgical ceremony on Palm Sunday evening before travelling down to the Salesian Philosophate in Pyin Oo Lwin for another stop.
