Fr Michael Jackson SDB was laid to rest at the Salesian cemetery at Salesian College Sunbury on Wednesday 4th November. The requiem Mass was led by the provincial, Fr Greg Chambers, and concelebrated by a large number of Salesian priests. Many Salesian Brothers and Sisters were also present. Some family members of the Jackson family and a few friends of Fr Michael participated in this Eucharist.
Fr. Michael died peacefully in South Australia on Monday 26th October after a short illness. He was 77 years of age. He had been a Salesian for 55 years and a priest for 47 years. He served in parishes as well as in Salesian schools throughout the province.
During the requiem Mass, Fr Joseph Lee SDB, the rector of Brooklyn Park/Gawler community shared some thoughts about Fr Michael.
Previously, friends and parishioners of Fr Michael also had a chance to say ‘good-bye’ to him in a Mass on Saturday 31st October at St John Bosco parish in Brooklyn Park, South Australia. This Mass was led by Fr Joseph Lee, concelebrated by a few Salesian and diocesan priests, and attended by a large number of people.
The Australian-Pacific province of Mary Help of Christians mourns the loss of a fine Salesian and a quiet achiever. Please continue to remember Fr Michael in your prayer.
May he rest in peace, amen!
