S.A. Salesian Principals Meet for Bicentenary

Three principals of schools founded on the Salesian charism met recently to discuss the celebrations of the bicentenary of the birth of St.John Bosco in 2015.

With the international Salesian family celebrating 200 years since Don Bosco’s birth, the Salesians of the Gawler/Brooklyn Park Salesian Community were looking for a South Australian celebration for young people and staff in Salesian schools.

Mr.Lynn Martin, Principal of  Xavier College Gawler,  Mr.Greg Hay, Principal of St.Mark’s College Port Pirie, and Mr.Paul Murphy, Principal of St.John Bosco School Brooklyn Park, met with the rector Fr.Joseph Lee at Xavier College in June.

Xavier College is a secondary school, St.Mark’s College has both primary and secondary campuses, while St.John Bosco School is a primary school founded by the Salesian Sisters in 1954. The idea was to some liturgical celebration with representatives from all three schools, and a gathering afterwards. Other possibilities were discussed which would involve the staff and students in 2015.
