Salesian Educational Leadership Conference

Salesian educational leaders from Australia and Samoa gathered for a  Leadership Conference at Catholic Leadership Centre in East Melbourne from 2nd to 4th August. It is a bi-annual event organized by the Australia Pacific Salesian Principals Association [APSPA]. Currently, Mr Lynn Martin from Xavier College in Gawler, South Australia is the president of the APSPA.

A number of inspiring and interesting presentations were presented during the conference including the Rediscovering Don Bosco’s Preventive System by Fr Chris Ford, Contemporary Catholic Education by Professor Denis McLaughlin, A 21st Century Salesian Context: Who are we working with? by Andrew Fuller, and Don Bosco: A Contemporary Perspective by Fr Bernie Graham. There were times for group discussions, sharing and presentations from the participants throughout the weekend.

The provincial of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr Greg Chambers, presided the concluding Eucharist on Sunday during which he thanked and encouraged all educational leaders to continue their pilgrimage/journey with the young in the way of St John Bosco.

All participants were excited and energized to go back to their schools on Sunday afternoon after a successful and rewarding experience shared with fellow Salesian educators from all across Australia and Samoa.

It was certainly good to see a good number of teachers from Samoa joining in this 2013 conference.
