The Australian Province has recently opened an on-line Book Shop as a way of getting more Salesian books into the hands of readers. We have many wonderful authors in the Salesian family who have published numerous books. This new online shop with give Australians a one stop shop to find them all in the one place. The new Book Shop on the Province website sells a wide range of Salesian and Catholic book, and more are being added every week.
Coinciding with the launch of the Book Shop is the launch of a new Salesian prayer book. Salesian Youth at Prayer has been compiled by Br Tristan O’Brien and published by the Salesians of Don Bosco Australia-Pacific. The book is a collection of prayers and reflections for designed for young people. This is first of many such publications that will be written, published and marketed by the Social Media team.
The Salesian Book Shop has also been given the rights to sell the YOUCAT series of publications. YOUCAT, short for Youth Catechism of the Catholic Church, aims to be an aid for youth to better understand the Catechism of the Catholic Church. The book, drafted in the form of a conversation, is intended for use by young Catholic around the world and is available in 25 languages, including Arabic and Chinese. The catechism has 304 pages and consists of four chapters with 527 questions and answers.
The DOCAT focuses on the social teaching of the Catholic Church, and shows young people how to work towards building a “civilisation of love”. Written in the popular style associated with the series, DOCAT tackles tough questions on issues like politics and economics, human rights, the family and the environment. This book comes with its own phone App.
