We arrived safely in Rome at 6am Sunday after leaving cold Melbourne on Saturday afternoon. We meet the Melbourne pilgrims at the check in counter, we meet the Sydney pilgrims and the Don Bosco leaders at Bangkok airport and travelled together to Rome. So for the 59 of us the plane trip was long and after a lot of movies, games and aeroplane food we touched down.
It has been very hot, 30 degrees on the first day, 35 today. We visited the Vatican museum, it was beautiful and the Sistine chapel was amazing. We spent a lot of time in St Peter’s Basilica and we found Don Bosco, at the front of the Nave, just above St Peter’s chair, he is next to St Francis de Sales. We walked around a lot in the afternoon, did some shopping and had a lovely dinner.
Everyone in the group is having fun, we are still waiting for some of the Samoan pilgrims to arrive, We have an amazing view of the city of Rome from the rooftop terrace, we have spent time together reflecting and praying, getting to know eachother and loving being Pilgrims in this beautiful city.
Tomorrow 9thAugust, we are off to the Catecombs and to have Mass in Sacre Coure Church – the one that Don Bosco Built in the middle of Rome – should be amazing!
