Competition Rules


  • The Australian Salesian Bulletin is published and distributed free. Four editions a year, including a full colour calendar, are sent to parishes, religious houses, schools and homes throughout Australia and overseas.
  • The panel of judges will select 12 photographs of Young People entered as part of this Competition to be included in the 2011 Salesian Calendar. Winning photographers will be acknowledged in the calendar.
  • Photographs must be of young people in Australia or the Pacific.
  • Entries are limited to five photographs per entrant.
  • Entry is open to amateur photographers under the age of 20 years.
  • Copyright of the photograph must belong to the entrant.
  • Entrants can only submit their own work.
  • Photographs must be in digital format.
  • Photographs must be clear and in colour. Photographs should be of the following specification:
  1. Landscape 297mm Wide x 210mm High.
  2. Picture should be 300dpi at A4 size
  3. Aprox 3189 x 2244 pixels is required, no less than 2900 x 2000
  4. JPEG format
  • It is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure that all necessary permissions are obtained from any people who may feature in a photograph.
  • Entries must be emailed to with the following information:
  1. Entrant’s name
  2. Entrant’s age
  3. Salesian School or Centre
  4. File name of entry eg. nameofentry.jpg
  5. Names of people pictured and the location
  6. Entrant’s contact details including email and phone number


  • Entrants are asked to confirm that the photograph has not and will not be submitted to other photographic competitions.
  • Submission of an entry is deemed as acceptance that you have read, understand and agree to abide by these rules.
  • Entrants hereby grant the Australian Salesian Bulletin shared copyright in the photograph and the Australian Salesian Bulletin reserves the right to use, reproduce, exhibit and publish all entries (including provision to third parties), with an acknowledgement of the photographer wherever possible.
  • A panel of judges, appointed by Australian Salesian Bulletin, will select the winning entries. The panel’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  • The closing date for entries is 8th October 2010.
  • The winners will be notified, in writing, by October 29, 2010.
