A Day of Recollection in the Monastery

Blessed Don Rua

Salesians in South Australia spent a day of recollection at the Monastery in Glen Osmond near Adelaide on 14th June, the Queen’s Birthday Holiday. Don Michael Rua

The day begins with the Morning Prayer followed by the input on Blessed Michael Rua by Fr. Germano Baiguini, the vice rector of the community. Fr. Germano presented the relationship and cooperation between Don Bosco and Michael Rua from the time they first met. Michael Rua was the right-hand man completely trusted by Don Bosco in their mission.

The second input given on 1:30 pm was how Don Rua carried out his mission as the first successor of Don Bosco in deep humility, obedience and loyalty to his predecessor.

The day of recollection was concluded with a concelebrated Eucharist in the Church at 3:00pm, followed by an afternoon tea.

It was a very spiritually fruitful day for all Salesians involved. Fr. Joe Lee, the rector of the Salesian community, thanked Fr. Germano on behalf of all for his thoroughly prepared and solidly delivered presentations on Don Michael Rua. It is certainly recommended for other communities around the province.
