Provincial Delegates for Social Communications from the East Asia and Oceania region together with many Salesian publishers met with their General Councillor, Fr Filiberto Gonzalez SDB, from 9th to 15th November at Chofu Salesian Seminary in Tokyo, Japan.
The first part of the week was dedicated to the publishers while the second half was reserved for the Delegates. A few lay collaborators and Salesian Sisters of Japan also took part in these meetings.
During the meeting, each delegate presented the works they were doing in their respective provinces. It was a great learning experience for all participants. There were a lot of sharing and discussions on the communications matters.
Fr Filiberto also presented the six year plan of the Rector Major [2014-2020], and invited the Delegates to imitate the plan of the Rector Major in their own provinces.
In addition to the intensity of the meetings, the participants were taken a tour around Tokyo, and a special tour of Don Cimatti’s museum within the seminary. Don Cimatti was an Italian Salesian missionary who was also considered as ‘Don Bosco of Japan’ to the Salesians. The Venerable Cimatti is now buried in the crypt of Chofu Salesian Seminary.
The Social Communications meeting overall was another fruitful meeting with the General Councillor and with Salesians who are on the same ministry in the region. This fraternal sharing is held every two year in a country of the region.
