On Saturday 7th April, Archbishop Denis Hart presided over the first Eucharist to consecrate and open the newly renovated church at Collingwood. Also concelebrating with the Archbishop were Fr Peter Hoang SDB the parish priest, the Provincial, Vice-Provincial, Rector of the Clifton Hill Salesian community, together with a large number of Salesians and diocesan clergy.
During the homily, Archbishop Hart told the faithful the importance of the parish church and the parish community who gather for strength and support around the altar of the Lord.
Following Communion, Fr Peter Hoang thanked all participants including the Archbishop, Fr Greg Chambers the former Provincial, the architects, parish team and all workers. Refreshments were served together with entertainment after the Eucharist.
Fr Peter, the Salesian Community and all parishioners are to be highly commended for producing such a beautiful church for worship, praise and celebrations.
