Strenna 2017: We are a Family

Salesian Strenna 2017 has been launched for all the members of the Salesian Family. The focus for this new Strenna is ‘family’ that reads: We are a Family: Every home, a school of life and love.

The term family is always a key word for the Salesians of Don Bosco. Don Bosco wanted his followers to create an atmosphere of family. Even in his day, he provided a family environment to all his students with help from his own mother, Margaret Occhiena, and a few other women of Turin.

Salesian priests, sisters and brothers all around the world are working very hard to provide family atmosphere and spirit to thousands of young people. A family environment is a vital space for every young person growing up.

All people have the strong personal experience having been born in a family. We are born as a family, with the beauty and limits of every family, but ultimately within a family – a family that is the very concrete human reality where the art of life and love is learned.

The Rector Major, Fr. Angel Artime, says:

I make first of all an invitation to a calm and open reading, one with the heart ready for dialog and encounter with what the apostolic exhortation says, so that it may help us as Salesian Family to discover what the document offers. Such a reading is a gesture of love, as a Salesian Family, on behalf of the reality of the family, acknowledged and extolled as a great gift of God for all. And it is also a gesture of love toward those who have successfully lived in fullness this plan of God and who need our help, and maybe our accompaniment, to implement their plan for a life of conjugal and family love, which sometimes is broken or faces great difficulties.
