Young Salesian Priests, ordained five years or less, met at the Salesian Retreat Centre at Lysterfield from Friday, 16 September, till Sunday, 18 September, under the direction of the Delegate for Formation, Fr. Peter Rankin.

They had a rich programme. Fr. Peter Rankin spoke to them on Friday night about the prayer life of a busy Salesian Priest. On Saturday morning Phil Gleeson spent two sessions with them about the importance of an ongoing interest in Theology, and the need for a theological mindset for a contemporary Priest. In the afternoon Fr. Joe Binh spent two very rich sessions with them on the Salesian Priest as a Counsellor.

The Provincial celebrated Mass with the group on Sunday morning, and the morning was filled with a fine sharing of Priestly experience by Fr. Frank Freeman. After this rich fare, the group settled down to watch Samoa do battle with Wales in the World Rugby Cup. Like Australia, they were beaten. However, unlike Australia, Samoa performed with great credit!
