Very early on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb of Jesus. The eeriness of the cemetery did not deter her not to be there. She came because she wanted to see the one she admired and loved, the one who loved and forgave her.
Not seeing Jesus in the empty tomb, she ran back and told the disciples that the Body had been stolen. Peter, the most senior of the disciples, and the other disciple ran to the tomb to see what had happened. The other disciple who seemed to be younger and quicker than Peter arrived first. Yet he waited Peter to arrive, giving respect to the senior I suppose. When they both looked into the tomb, it was empty of course, only a piece of cloth left. THEY SAW THE EMPTY TOMB AND THEY BELIEVED.
They believed and understood what Jesus had spoken before that he would rise from the dead. Not just the empty tomb, Jesus appeared to his friends at different places. He talked and ate with them until He ascended into heaven. Jesus Christ is risen!
The followers of Jesus are promised to a new life in Him. God has reconciled us by allowing His only Son to die on the cross, and made Him rise from the dead on the third day.
May this Easter be a time for all of us to reconcile with God and with one another so that we can live, experience and share the true light of Easter as forgiven children of God.
Christ is risen, Alleluia!
