Two New Salesian Priests for Thai Province

The Salesian Province of Thailand has a great start to commemorate the Bicentenary of the Birth of St John Bosco by ordaining two new priests: Fr John Watthana Seesawan and Fr Francis Xavier Ronachai Mathavabhandhu.

The priestly ordination was presided over by the Salesian Bishop of Thailand, Most Rev. Joseph Prathan Sridarusil, concelebrated by many Salesian priests, and attended by nearly 1200 religious, lay people, friends and family members of the ordinands.

During his homily, Bishop Prathan said this ordination is a God’s blessing on this Bicentenary year for the family of Don Bosco. He also invited the attendees to pray for more Salesian vocations.

Both Fr John and Fr Ronnie have completed their theological studies in Melbourne, Australia. Due to their Australian connection, the ordination was represented and attended by Fr Phil Gleeson, Fr Bernie Graham and Fr Frank Moloney from the Australian-Pacific province.

The newly ordained were the third and the fourth Thai Salesians who completed studies in Australia in the last ten years. Currently, a young Thai Salesian is studying in Don Bosco House in Melbourne for priesthood.

Please remember Fr John and Fr Ronnie in your prayer, and pray for more vocations in the Salesian Congregation.
