Visits at Vietnam’s Formation Houses

The secretary of the Youth Ministry Team from Rome, Fr Patrick Anthony Raj SDB, and the Social Communications Delegate from the Australia-Pacific Province, Fr Will Matthews SDB, visited the Salesian Novitiate Community and the Pre-Novitiate Community in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam on Wednesday 8th November.

Arriving in each community, both visitors were warmly welcomed by the hosts with genuine smiles and fraternal hospitality.

Fr Patrick presented a quick view on the importance of Youth Ministry in the congregation based on the three dreams of St. John Bosco: the wild animals becoming sheep, the sheep becoming shepherds, and the shepherds becoming missionaries to the world. He encouraged the young Vietnamese Brothers to dream not only for the good of their local environments, but also for the needs of the young all around the world.

Fr Will also presented a quick snap on Social Communications inviting the young confreres to be great communicators of the Gospel to the young in every possible way they can.

Questions & answers sessions were held in both communities when Brothers were given opportunities to ask any questions to Fr Patrick and Fr Will.

Salesians in Vietnam are thriving very well, having 23 Novices in the Novitiate and another 40 are waiting to get into the novitiate in a near future.
