After a few days of quiet reflection and community life, Rector-Major Don Ángel Fernández Artime’s tour down under once again hit high gear on Wednesday 27th of April for a full day of festivities!
Brother Silvio Quaranta, highly respected and much-loved member of the Province peacefully passed away at St Joseph's Home in Northcote, Victoria on the evening of Friday, 20th January 2023. Brother Silvio was 96 years of age; the oldest member of the province and a professed son of Don Bosco for 79 years.
The third day of Rector-Major Don Ángel Fernández Artime’s visit to Australia saw him travel to St Mary’s an extremely diverse suburb located 45km west of Sydney’s CBD.
Engadine, a suburb in southern Sydeney is home to what is perhaps the most comprehensive Salesian presence in Australia; there are three very successful schools (Primary, Secondary and Special Residential & Day), a retirement village, lively parish and flourishing youth ministry.
After a marathon 31-hour transit, Rector Major Don Ángel Fernández Artime touched down to find a sunny morning at Sydney airport, Australia where the Salesians are celebrated 100 years of presence in 2023.
