At least 2,300 people in Eswatini had access to better nutrition thanks to a partnership between Salesian Missions and Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit Christian organization committed to “feeding God’s children hungry in body and spirit.” The food shipment was sent in 2022 and shared with several Salesian programs and communities.
The World Day against Child Labour was commemorated yesterday, 12 June, to raise awareness of this plague that affects more than 160 million children around world. These are children who cannot go to school, barely have time to eat, do not even rest on weekends and do not know what it means to play with other children.
In recent days, heavy rains have fallen in the province of Esmeraldas, in the northwest of Ecuador, causing six rivers to break their banks with consequent serious flooding that has affected 14,186 people, according to the National Secretariat for Risk Management. Initial estimates indicate that 2,895 homes, 21 schools and 7 health centres have been affected in the Atacames, Esmeraldas, Muisne, Quinindé and Rioverde areas.
Nearly 1,400 people in Peru benefited from a donation from ASAP – Tools for Empowerment thanks to a partnership with Salesian Missions. Don Bosco Foundation received the donation and distributed it to seven Salesian organizations in 2022.
Every mother wants the best for her children, but not all are put in a position to give it to them: poverty, disease, abandonment... are all factors that prevent this natural maternal tendency. So, too, war, perhaps the worst possible impediment.
