  • The Links

The Links is the news service for the Salesians in the Australia- Pacific province. We aim to cover all stories pertaining to the Salesians and their activites, as they live out the mission of the founder, Don Bosco.

Through honest reporting, active listening and optimistic storytelling, we aim to serve the world by connecting it to the Salesians and serve the Salesians by connecting it to the world

  • Origins of the Salesian Bulletin

Around the world, Don Bosco and all he did for young people is very well known. Less well known is that Don Bosco was also a prolific writer and publisher, in fact, Don Bosco is also the Patron Saint of Editors & Publishers! Don Bosco started the Salesian Bulletin in 1875, and continued to expand it, with the purpose of using it to connect the professed Salesians to the rest of the Salesian family, and all of the Salesian family to the world they reside in.

When asked why his particluar brand of youth outreach was so effective, Don Bosco would often speak to the importance of meeting the young people where they are - and today, all people are online! Therefore, The Links finds itself as the intersection of these two proud traditions.

  • Grounded in the here & now

As the news service for the Salesians of the Australia-Pacific region, The Links is primarilly interested in the activities of the Salesians within Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Samoa. However, The Links is also very aware of it's place in an ever-increasingly digitised, connected world and takes pride in working within the world, for the world; within the Church, for the Church and within the Salesians, for the Salesians.

In all things, The Links is determined to stay up to date with the changing dynamics of society, whilst maintaining its dedication to Don Bosco's charism and teachings. In this manner, The Links endeavours to a "good Christian and an honest citizen" by standing by the truth, and for those who are just, wherever they may be
