Every December, The Don Bosco Camp & Centre runs Salesian Leadership Camp. It is a 4-day training course designed to provide leaders and potential leaders with a variety of tools, techniques and hands-on experience in working with young people.
This program is suitable for all people that are aged 16 or above who want to work with young people in any setting, such as camps, youth groups, parishes, schools, community groups and so on.
Anyone with an interest in this field are encouraged to come along, regardless of what experience they have.
In previous years, wild activities have taken place during leadership, such as this intensive 'suvivor' themed day - who knows what's on the cards for this year!
The 2019 rendition of the program will include a range of guest speakers and contributors, allowing participants to pick the brains of experienced people working in the field. It is always one of the highlights of the Don Bosco Camp & Centre year and is simply not to be missed!
Most notably of these guest speakers is Mark Collard, the founder of Playmeo. Playmeo is a small development company which specialises in helping program leaders all over the world design and deliver remarkably fun programs that make a difference in the lives and performance of their groups.
Don Bosco firmly believed in peer-to-peer mentoring and leadership and it is on this model that we base our program on. After completion of the leadership course, participants are encouraged to participate as leaders on our holiday programs, where they will run activities and games for children aged between 9 and 16 years.
A previous batch of 'graduates' from the leadership program, who were well equipped to care for young people in a positive and holistic way!
The leadership program will start at 10am on Monday December 2nd 2019 and will end at approximately 3.00pm on Thursday 5th December, 2019.
The cost of the camp is $150, which includes accommodation, all meals and activities, a leader’s kit and a leader’s T-Shirt, however some concessions do apply; contact staff management for details.
All participants must have a current Working with Children Check before they take part in the program, regardless of their age. More information on the WWCC can be found here.
